  1. Interesting to see Portland had already attained 6% of traffic. Southampton has just peaked at 3% this last 2 years… never seen so many bikers here (well since I was a lad, anyway). Its also interesting to compare other dynamics such as distances – ours peak around the 5 mile rate here, theirs peak around 2 – BOTH very cycle-able.

    Although I’d dispute us being able to get 20 bikes in a car parking slot in the UK. Perhaps our cars are smaller than in the USA?

  2. I didn’t realise that high petrol prices in the UK and Europe were intended to incentivize cycling – I’d just assumed it was to do with government and oil companies wanting to maximize profits…?
